the caustic soda is dissolved in the water. then the starch is made into a thick paste by adding a portion of this solution. the paste is then added to the water. the resulting mixture is placed on a water bath and heated to about 85℃, until all the starch granules have broken. the temperature is maintained about 1/2 hour longer at 85℃. the other substances are then added and thoroughly mixed. the composition. less water may be used if applied hot and then a thcker coating will result. |
