Mix the kerosene or oil and oleic acid. dissolve the amines in the watr and stir in "Tergitol" surface active agent and propylene glycol.
In formula 3, add "Versene" and stir until it is dissolved.
Add formula No.1 to No.2 or No.2 to No.1, depending on conveniece, and stir until a smooth cream is obtained. No heating is required.
Lanolin may be added to the kerosene to reduce the defatting action of the kerosene on the skin and the surfactant content can be increased to make the cleaner easier to remove with water.
Creams 2,3 and 4 are better detergents than cream 1 because of the presence of monoethanolamine as well as triethanolamine soap. When first made, cream 1 is slightly less viscous than the other creams but it becomes about as viscous as the others after standing several hours.
This should be an advantage in packaging cream No.1. |
