Premixing: "Pliovic" G90V (polyvinylchloride) can be premixed most easily in a jacketed mixer at 220 to 240'F. The resin, stabilizers, and fillers are first charged to the blender. Heater-plasticizer is then added during the mixing operation. Cold plasticizer may also be used, but it will require a prolonged mixing cycle.
Mixing is continued until a mixture is dry and sandy. the lubricant is then added and mixing is continued for 2 to 3 minutes. the entire cycle requires approximately 45 minutes, depending on the compound being mixed and the temperature employed.
the premix should be used immediately. If temporary storage is necessary, the cooled premix should be placed in tightly closed containers. Storage for more than 48 hours is to be avoided.
When internal mixers are available, cold premixing can be handled successfully. However, the resulting premix is relatively wet.
