melt the first two items together in an aluminum or enamelled double boiler. if no double boiler is at hand, improvise one by placing a dish in a small pot containing boiling water. when the mixture becomes clear, remove from the double boiler and add slowly, while stirring vigorously, the tincture of benzoin and then the witch hazel. continue stirring until cool and then put into one or two large bottles and shake vigorously. the finished lotion is a milky liquid comparable to the best hand lotions on the market sold at high prices. |
