Slowly add Van Gel B to the water while agitating at maximum available shear. Continue mixing until smooth. Add remaining Part A ingredients in order mixing until smooth after each addition. Add Part B ingredients in order allowing each addition to become smooth and uniform. Add desired preservative.
Consistency: Creamy suspension.
Suggested Packaging: Wide-mouth plastic or glass container.
Notes: Van Gel B suspends the pigments and serves as a viscosity builder. Titanium dioxide and the Biltplates kaolin act as extender pigments. Glycerin is a humectant. Dextrin is used as the binder. This formula can serve as a good starting point for a line of tempera paints.
The pigment and extender levels should be adjusted to achieve the desired color and shade. This formula as shown has been successfully prepared using ultramarine blue as the pigment. |
