Copper Coating Steel Wire as Drawing Lubricant |
配制方法: |
The copper coating is used, in some cases, as a drawing lubricant for steel wire. The application of the copper coating is generally called making a copper strike. The coating is applied by immersing the steel wire or sheet in a copper sulfate solution. In order to obtain a continuous, smooth, thin copper coating, cyanide is used as a complexing agent for the copper ions and a wetting agent is frequently added for good spreading and wetting. A good copper coating is obtained by this method, but the disadvantages of using the toxic cyanide are great. The original solution must be handled with great care and the waste solutions must be neutralized chemically before disposal. Sodium "Tetrine" liquid concentrate, used in place of cyanide as a complexing agent for the copper, overcomes these difficulties. This chemical is not toxic, which makes it easy and safe to handle. There is no waste-disposal problem, which is a definite economic advantage. The use of sodium "Tetrine" as a complexing agent for |
