Plastisols are high-molecular-weight and relatively insoluble resins dispersed in plasticizers which form tough and inert films on fusing at 350 to 400'F. Plastigels are plastisols which have been thickened to a putty-like state capable of retaining an impressed shape or form. Organosols are similar to plastisols, but contain volatile solvents and/or diluents in order to achieve certain objectives, like lower fluidity, lower solids, less plasticized films, etc. Hydrosols are similar to organosols, but contain water as the volatile medium. The resins are usually polyvinyl chloride or its copolymers. Pigments, fillers, stabilizers, etc., are usually added, as needed, in the form of plasticizer dispersions. Pigment additions vary from 1 to 15% on the weight of the resin. Filler additions up to 30% or more on the weight of the resin usually can be tolerated. Typical examples are: titanium dioxide, cadmium red, cadmium yellow, Prussian blue, green chrome oxides, carbon black, "Surfex," tal |
