Plastic-coated electric-wire cord is difficult to strip without untwisting the copper strands because of the adhesion of the coating to the wire. In largescale, assembly-line use of such wire, stopping to retwist the wire by hand is an important factor in labor cost.
Diglycol laurate S, applied without dilution to the wire just before extrusion of the plastic, permits easy stripping of the wire without untwisting the strands. This application has proved effective with polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride coatins which are not affected by the diglycol laurate S. |
