Bleaching Fur and Animal Hair |
配方组成: |
Water/100 gal Ammonium Chloride/2 lb When the solution is prepared, sufficient ammonia is added to give the solution a pH of 8. During the bleaching period, the pH is checked periodically and small amounts of ammonia added when it drops below 6. The total requirement should not exceed three quarts. Another bleaching formula in common use is made up as follows "Albone" 35 hydrogen Peroxide/3-4 gal Ammonium Persulfate/6 lb Ammonia (28%)/6 lb Water/100 gal Tartaric Acid/2 lb "Albone" 35 hydrogen Peroxide/1-3 gal Ferrous Sulfate/4 lb Ammonia (28%)/3 qt Water/100 gal |

As in the case above, sufficient ammonia is added to adjust the pH of the bleaching solution to pH 8 and additions of ammonia are made when the pH drops to 6. After bleaching, the fibers are washed thoroughly and given a final treatment in 1% oxalic acid solution for one h at 80'F. The fur is washed thoroughly and air dried at low temperature. When it is not desirable to dip the entire pelt in bleaching solution or when only a small degree of bleaching is required, the solution may be brushed onto the fur to the desired depth and allowed to air dry. Brushing and drying are usually carried out at room temperature. The bleaching solution may be prepared with 5-10 fl. oz. of "Albone" 35 hydrogen peroxide and 1 oz. of ammonia in a gallon of water. In still another method, the pelt is dipped into the bleaching solution for a short time and then hung up to air dry as in the brushing method. |
