Beta-carotene is an extremely potent coloring agent. Only a few
milligrams per quart are needed to produce a distinct and effective
color. The following suggested levels in representative food or beverage
products are based on the use of the experimental stock dispersion
described later:

Soda, orange/Apo-Carotenal stock solution per 10 qts.
Orange drinks/2 1/2 oz.+1/2 oz. 10% Apo-carotenal stock solution per 10
qts.
Prepared chicken foods (pie, a la king)/1/20-1/10 oz. per lb.
Dessert toppings/1/20-1/10 oz. per qt.
Imitation cream (vegetable oil based)/1/20-1/10 oz. per qt.
Eggnog/1/10-1/4 oz. per qt.
Soups (chicken, clam chowder)/1/10-1/2 oz. per 10 qt.
Candy (cream filling, coatings)/1/2-5 oz. per 10 lbs.
Puddings, lemon/1/4-1/2 oz. per qt.
Primary cheese/1/10-1/4 oz. per lb.
Baked goods (Bread, Cakes, Cookies)/1/10-1/4 oz. per lb.
