Total charge:/2,654.3 kg The ethylene glycol is first charged into the reaction kettle, and agitation is started. The dipropylene glycol and trimethylol propane are put into the reaction kettle and are agitated while the inert gas is caused to bubble out slowly form the bottom of the kettle. After the temperature has been raised to about 80'C, the maleic anhydride is added, and the temperature will naturally rise about 20'c due to the exothermic reaction of the anhydride. Next, the himic anhydride is charged, and after two hours the temperature is raised to 195-205'C. The rate of flow of the inert gas is increased, and the resin is maintained at this temperature. The reaction is allowed to continue until the acid value has gone down to 30 or less. Then the inhibitors and the styrene monomers are added in the same way as in the procedure for making Polyester 1, and the styrene content is made to be 45%. |
