3. As Wax Coating:
Heated to melting point and applied to the paper by means of a heated
roller. The paper is then passed through a series of heated nipper
rollers to ensure a good bond between coating and paper. The object is
to coat the paper. the object is to coat the paper at the recommended
rate per unit area; the actual depth of impregnation is not so important
because the fruit is preserved by vaporization of the diphenyl from the
coating during storage. The temperature of the diphenyl-wax mixture
should not be allowed to exceed 70'C (160'F) as a higher temperature
will cause considerable loss of diphenyl by vaporization.
4. For Application in Warm Solvent:
a) Diphenyl/25
Liquid Paraffin/75
The liquid paraffin should be a non-toxic, odorless, and tasteless
medicinal (e.g. "Liquid Paraffin B.P.").
