Heat-Transfer Inks |
配方组成: |
These special inks operate on the principle of decalcomania except that they are heat-activated. The ink which is applied as a relatively heavy coating on a conventional paper is transferred by means of a typewriter or addressograph type (flat bed) plate impression to a special master paper. This latter, when brought into contact with the copy paper and impressed on the reverse or uncoated side by means of a heated bar, causes a small amount of the ink to be released onto the copy paper. This process may be repeated several times, depending upon the specific properties of the ink and the amount of heat and pressure used in making the transfer. These latter conditions are closely controlled by the automatic equipment. The requirements of the ink are that the intitial transfer be clean and sharp and that the secondary multiple transfers be designed for specific temperatures and stroke pressure. Grinding Procedure: These inks are best prepared on a roller mill. The waxes, oils, and petrolatum are melted together in a heated vessel equipped with a slow-speed stirrer. When mixed thoroughly, the gilsonite is added and the heating and stirring are continued until a reasonable degree of dispersion is effected. The pigments and dyes are then added and the stirring is continued until the mass is reasonably uniform. The mix is then transferred to a hot roller mill and milled until uniform. A desirable strong coating is obtained by using a 14 rod and 9# Kraft paper. Depending upon the effect desired, the coating should be taken off the coating roll onto either hot or cold rolls. |
