Ethanol is flammable and volatile. Avoid open flames.
Melt the stearic acid in the mineal oil; add the lanolin, where required, and about 0.15 part of terpineol; and bring the temperature of the mixture to 70'C.
In a separate container, add the triethanolamine to the water and bring this solution to 70'C. Add the hot oil mixture to the heated amine solution and stir vigorously to obtain a uniform emulsion.
Mix the perfume with the propylene glycol and add this solution to the emulsion. However, for the preparation of formula 3, using ethanol, continue with even, out less rapid stirring until the temperature has reached 48'c. before adding the ethanol-perfume solution. The viscosity of formula 3 depends largely on the temperature of the emulsion when the ethanol is added. If the temperature is higher than 52'C. or lower than 45'C., the emulsion will be almost fluid instead of a desirable cream.
