Sodium gluconate is used in etching, providing a smooth mirror-like finish instead of the satin finish usually attained. A suggested bath consists of 25 lb caustic soda and 3/4 lb sodium gluconate per 100 gal of bath, at a temperature of 150 to 160'F. |
