Preparation of Emulsifier Solution: Several different emulsion formulations are presented above and are recommended according to the intended use for the emulsions. Some of these formulations call for hydrochloric acid. In accordance with the proportions outlined in the formula used, introduce water into the emulsifier-solution tank, and heat it to approximately 120'F. Next, add the desired amount of hydrochloric acid and agitate. Then, add the specified amount of Redicote cationic emulsifier to the acidified water, and agitate gently until a uniform solution is obtained. Since the final solution should have a pH of between 6.5 and 7.0, it can be adjusted, if necessary, by adding more acid. For those formulations that do not call for hydrochloric acid, merely add the specified amount of Redicote cationic emulsifier to the water, and agitate gently until a uniform solution is obtained. A small amount of calcium chloride can be added to the emulsifier solution to enhance even further the storage stability |
